Creedence Clearwater Revival: "Live in Europe" (Unreleased version)

"Live in Europe" was the first live album in many years by Creedence Clearwater Revival, released in October 16.1973 by Fantasy Records documenting the Mardi Gras tour. The CCR farewell Concerts. Starts on July 4.1971 at Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA, USA and ends on May 22 at Denver Coliseum, Denver, CO, USA . After they played around the world: Europe, Australia and Japan. It was performed as a trio following Tom Fogerty's departure.
The original project was a single LP with only 10 by the 15 songs, that they used to played on tour. Aproximately about 20 minutes per side. But Fantasy Records wanted a doble album and expanded it with four more songs and changed the original versions selected by other most extensive. But even though this, bit.ly/368ccR It did not given for to complete four sides. The minutes per side did not exceed 12. To fix it, the record company thought about adding songs from other concerts, past or futures, not necessarily in Europe or some studio outtake. So a edit version from part 1 & 2  from "45 Revolutions Per Minute" released as promotional single on Decembder 31 1969 was selected to complete the disc. This outtakes (not edited) were included on Pendulum 40th special edition, but only as bonus tracks. The version made for "live in Europe" remains unreleased, .although it is suspected that it was destroyed by John Fogerty to prevent them from being pirated. Either way, I have not found it anywhere, the same is true and was destroyed or never came into existence and is only legend. What do you think about it?.

The tapes recorded by CCR on January 30 1970, during "Cosmo´s factory sessions", with Booker T Jones at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco, California, were also reviewed, but this recordings were rejected too, because the material didn't have enough quality.

The project was delayed in order to provide more unpublished material live and thus offer a double album in conditions, but the group's refusal to contribute to it was moving away from this second possibility. On the contrary, things got worse, and finally the album was released after John Fogerty's final struggles with Fantasy Records, in which he as a songwriter was trapped.More than a year after CCR's farewell tour was over, in late 1973 Fantasy Records released the album live and John Fogerty said he never would play a Creedence Clearwater Revival song again, since this would only benefit to his old record company This was a promise he kept for some 20 years.
The lp had an anticipated edition in France at the end of 1972. and another of a single lp in 1987, in which the two songs "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" and "Door to Door" released as a single in July 1971 from "Mardi Gras", were amitted.
In this new reconstruction I bring you, The rejected versions,in stereo and mono mixes. taken live in September 1971 at the European Tour, for the last CCR.

Buffalo Springfield Again (Unreleased pre-sales Stereo & Mono versions)

The second álbum from Buffalo Springfiled which name was "Stampede" was to be released in the spring 1967 to capitalize the hit: "For what it´s worth". A super hit recorded December 5 1966 and released on January 9.1967. the song reached Top Ten nationally, becoming one of the greatest rock hits the 20th Century.
This great song was composed by Stephen Stills when witnessed the police violence ts in November, in which local law enforcement unfairly cracked down on the counterculture 'loiterers'. Influenced by the emerging madness and civil unrest of the 1960s.
.

But it was the same song that destroyed them because the band was not ready to attain superstardom so quickly, besides not bringing them very good luck. Since its publication the group was involved in problems that came one after the other such as the departure of vocalist/guitarist Neil Young had to briefly leave the group in January due to epileptic seizures, and bassist Bruce Palmer was arrested for marijuana possession and deported back to Canada. All this and more made the album "Stempede" was delayed first, being suspended afterwards. With the group almost separated, in mid-October, a different lp was compiled, called "Again". It was released on November 17.1967.

This is a reconstruction from a unreleased pre-sales version bit.ly/34hxe2 made only with composition from Stills & Young. The others three songs: "A Child's Claim to Fame", ”,”Sad Memory” and “God Time Boy” by Richie Furray, momentarily were out for being considered of inferior quality.

Bluebird.(3:06)

(Unreleased single version).

The opening track "Rock & Roll Woman" allegedly includes vocals by Crosby, who also  had a hand in its composition; whether true or not, Stills acknowledges the genesis of the song was from jamming with Crosby. Young's extended piece "Broken Arrow" begins with "Mr. Soul" a song recorded live in the studio. Followed by “Everydays” by Stephen Stills with Jim Fielder on bass, replacing absent Bruce Palmer. At the end you can hear a unreleased piece called: “Raga #1“. as closure of side A.

The B side opens with “Expecting to Fly,"it was for a Neil Young solo project rather than for Buffalo Springfield. Phil Spector Wrecking Crew associate Jack Nitzsche provided the musical arrangements for "Expecting to Fly"; it does not feature any members of the Springfield. Nitzsche would continue to work with Young through the early 1970s on both his solo debut album and his best-selling Harvest, also becoming a member of Young's backing bands Crazy Horse and The Stray Gators.“Bluebird“ is a 1973 extended version from 2nd Buffalo Springfield compilation album. Another song by Stills closes the album: “Hung Upside Down”.

Derek and The Dominos - "My Heart Is No Longer With You" - Reconstructed 2nd album

Derek and the Dominos were an English–American blues-rock band formed in the spring of 1970 by guitarist and singer Eric Clapton, keyboardist and singer Bobby Whitlock, bassist Carl Radle and drummer Jim Gordon. Their first session as a band was during the recording George Harrison´s album "All Things Must Pass".
Derek and the Dominos gave their debut live performance on 14 June 1970 The event was a charity concert in aid of the Dr Spock Civil Liberties Legal Defence Fund, held at London's Lyceum Theatre. Four days after, on 18 June, the band members, together with Harrison on guitar, took part in a session for the single at the Beatles' Apple Studio. With Phil Spector as producer, two Clapton–Whitlock compositions were recorded that day: "Tell the Truth" and "Roll It Over" – along with two instrumental jams that would be included on the Apple Jam disc of Harrison's triple album.

For three weeks from 1 August, the group performed in clubs and other small venues in Britain, where Clapton chose to play anonymously, still weary from the fame. on 23 August 1970 , the band flew to Miami, Florida to begin recording with Atlantic Records producer Tom Dowd until early September, The sessions took place at Criteria Studios for what became the double album: “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs”."Layla" (a tale of unrequited love inspired by Clapton's infatuation with his friend Harrison's wife, Pattie Boyd). The album is often considered to be the defining achievement of Clapton's career. The album is often considered to be the defining achievement of Clapton's career.

After the recording the album,Derek and the Dominos returned to the UK to continue touring there before heading back to America to start the US tour on 15 October. The double Lp was issued in November 1970. But it missed the top ten in the United States and failed to chart at all in the United Kingdom, hecause It garnered little attention, partly as a result of a lack of promotion by Polydor, and partly due to the public's ignorance of Clapton's presence in the band.
In 1972 the song "Layla" was included on “The History of Eric Clapton” lp and Atlantic issued the song as a single in July that year. It became a hit, reaching number 10 in America and number 7 in Britain. Song and album have since received widespread critical acclaim and has been ranked among the best albums of all time.

But the tragedy and misfortune dogged the group throughout and following its brief career. On 18 September 1970, the death of his friend Jimi Hendrix. In October 1971, Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. In addition, His unrequited love with Patti Harrison and the lukewarm critical and commercial reception to “Layla” took him to a spiral into drug addiction and depression.

However, the group began preparing a new studio album at the end of March, at Clapton´s home recording: “Gold Devils Roads” features vocals by Gordon´s wife Renee Armand. Intended to be the next Reneé´s single. Never released. The sessions began at Olympic Studios in April 1971; but this sessions were interrupted at the end of May after a strong discussion by Eric Clapton with the group, he left to never return more.

One of the provisional titles that were shuffled for the album was: “My heart is no longer with you”, that it defined the Eric Clapton´s continued feeling towards the group although everyone believed that those words was aimed at Patti Harrison.

The provisional álbum title was: “My heart is no longer with you”, the feeling that Eric Clapton had to the group, although everyone believed that those words was aimed at Patti Harrison. But the recording sessions were interrupted at the end of May after a strong discussion by Eric Clapton with the group, Eric left to never return more.

After a few months of waiting for things to calm down, seeing that Eric Clapton had left the band permanently, in mid-1972 a master tape was made with some studio songs along with others recorded live, but like no member of the group wanted to participate in it to finish, this project it was archived with no release date.bit.ly/3701tHt In January 1973, Polydor Records preferred released a double lp "In concert"; forgetting the previous record definitively.

New artwork, the previous one was wrong. Sorry.

The Beatles: "The unreleased Yellow Submarine EP".., and other songs from the film.

Yellow Submarine is a 1968 British animated musical fantasy film inspired by the music of the Beatles, directed by animation producer George Dunning, and produced by United Artists and King Features Syndicate. The film received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike,Half a century after its release, it is still regarded as a landmark of animation.
The Movie got: "1968 New York Film Critics Circle Award" and was nominated for: "1969 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation" and "1970 Grammy Award fro Best Original Score written for a Motion Picture or a Televsion Special".

The original soundtrack album released on January 19.1969. The project was considered a contractual obligation on the part of The Beatles, who were asked to contribute four songs to the film. Some were written and recorded exclusively for the soundtrack, while the others were unreleased songs from other projects. The lp comprised the title song "Yellow Submarine", four previously unreleased, used were not considered of high enough quality for appearance on a "regular" Beatles album, two by Harrison: "It's All Too Much", and "Only a Northern Song" with “All Together now”, "Hey Bulldog”; and one more :“All You Need Is Love”. The B side was a film's instrumental music was an orchestral score composed and arranged by George Martin.

Dick Emery: (English comedian and actor) was the dubbing actor - Jeremy´s voice. He sings on “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” first verse with alternate lyric. This song was included occasionally on the first American cassette version in 1969 (Capitol Records-4XW153), bit.ly/69BtYs as the first B-side track, but not “The “Jeremy” version. Dick Emery was also the voice of these other “Yellow Submarine”  characters: “Lord Mayor” and “Max”

“Think for yourself“ (vocal harmonising) was recorded on November 8.1965 (Studio 2-Abbey Road) during “Rubber Soul sessions“ with the working title: “Won´t be there with you”.George Martin deliberately recorded the Beatles rehearsing “Think for yourself”. In 1967 the tape was lent to the producer of the film “Yellow Submarine” Al Brodax and when that film finally appeared, on July 17.1968, it included a six seconds snatch of John, Paul and George practising “Think for yourselt” vocal harmonising.

On 14 September 1999, United Artists and Apple Records digitally remixed the audio of the film for a highly successful theatrical and home video re-release. Another soundtrack was released, which featured the first extensive digital stereo remixes of Beatles material. This new sound-track  contained all of the Beatles' songs from the film except "A Day in the Life".

Finally, the artwork. The cover is the 1st unreleased alternate version made for the  Ep or Lp. and backcover is inspired on the original unreleased EP.

Ok guys, let´s rock it!.

The Who: " Live in USA " - (Canceled 1970 album).

Ok Guys!, here we go again with more unreleased albums from The Who. One more.

On 17 May 1969, the opera rock" "Tommy" was published worldwide, placing the British group "The Who" and the songwriter Pete Townshend at the top of the rock world's.
Almost seven months of intense work cost to get this extraordinary double album . Recorded at the IBC studios in London, U.K, from September 1968 to March 1969. It was produced by Kim Lambert and distributed by Decca.

Although the album was released in May, the promotional tour began on February 14 at Lanchester College of Technology, Coventry, England. Where some songs from "Tommy" were played in concert for the first time. This 1st Britain´s leg ends May 2 at Ronnie Scott´s Jazz Club, London, England. Seven day after, The Who started their 1st American Tour at Grande Ballroom, Detroit, MI. Six week after, this tour finished at The Fillmore West concerts in San Francisco, five shows in three days the last one on June 19 with all tickets sold out.

The shows was divided into three parts. Here´s the original set list with some possible variation.
1st - Heaven and Hell / I can´t explain / Fortune teller / Tattoo / Young Man Blues / Substitute / Happy Jack / I´m a boy. 2nd - Tommy Opera.  3rd Summertime Blues / Shakin´All Over / My Generation Medley / Magic Bus.
In july The Who back to England; and on August, they played on Tanglewood and Woodstock and lon september at The Isle of Wight Festival. The tour continued by Europe and North America once again between September to December. After 125 concerts, the 1969 world tour ends on December 19 at Newcastle City Hall.
During the second American tour, some concerts were recorded for a possible live Lp but the members of the group were so tired, they didn't want to listen and choose the best cuts, so Pete Tonwshend left this work in hands of the engineer Bob Pridden. In early January 1970 before the band returned to the stage in Paris, Bob showed Pete a double acetate for the live album, but he didn't like it and asked for Tommy's share to be removed and make it a single lp with the best from parts 1 and 3 of the concerts.Bob took the Washington tapes for the best sound and made several mixes. This Project called: "The Who on Tour - live in USA", was abbreviated to "The Who Live In USA", because there was already another Lp with a similar title: Magic Bus- The Who on Tour. Days after showed the result to Pete...
Side One: (17:46)
1.Heaven and Hell. (3:14)
2.I Can´t Explain. (2:15)
3.Fortune Teller. (2:28)
4.Tattoo. (2:43)
5.Young Man Blues. (7:03)

Side Two: (17:00)
1.Summertime Blues. (3:11)
2.Shakin´All Over. (5:24)
3.My Generation Medley: / See Me, Feel Me / Naked Eye (Instrumental version) / Sparks. (8:21)
Recorded live at McDonough Memorial Gymnasium. Georgetown University. Washington D.C. US. Nov. 2.1969.
...but he still didn't like it and canceled it and preferred to record two extra concerts in mid-February in Leeds and Hull. Unfortunately, only Leeds's could be used, because Hull recorded technical problems with John's bass. During March, two versions were made at IBC studios, with a different duration, both with "My Generation Medley" and "Magic Bus" on A side, with this line-up:
(I.B.C Studio 1st Acetate version. March 1970).
Side One: (23:12)
1.My Generation Medley: / See Me, Feel Me / Naked Eye (Instrumental version) / Amazing Journey / Coming Out To Get You / Sparks. (15:45)

3.Happy Jack. (2:13)
4.I´m A Boy. (2:55)
5.Summertime Blues. (3:21)
6.Shakin´All Over. (4:34).
... but that same day, Pete edited this version once again to:
Side One: (20:35)
1.My Generation Medley (edit): / See Me, Feel Me / Naked Eye (Instrumental version) / Amazing Journey / Coming Out To Get You / Sparks. (13:09)
2.Magic Bus. (7:26)
Side Two: (15:29)
1.Young Man Blues. (5:26)
2.Substitute. (2:06)
3.Summertime Blues. (3:21)
4.Shakin´All Over. (4:34)
...at the end of the day, IBC Studios made a 2nd acetate. It seemed to be the definitive that was going to go to the lp. But a couple of weeks after, this last version was discarded too and Pete made a new one, where the songs chosen were in the same order in which they were played live. bit.ly/69tW70lr The album was re-called: "The Who live at Leeds".It was released by Decca & MCA in the USA and Track Records in UK, on May 23.1970. Produced by Kim Lambert, John Astley and  The  Who.
This record is considered one of the best live rock albums of all time. On this new occasion, I bring you the original album cancelled "The Who on Tour - live in USA" and the two reconstructed acetates from "Live at Leeds".
Enjoy it and see you soon with more and better. I hope.
